My name is Adrian Roedel and I am a self-taught nature and wildlife photographer based in Germany.
As long as I remember, I always enjoyed spending time in nature. Growing up in a small village with close access to forests was definitely a benefit and something I really value when I look back on my childhood. On several family trips to the northern part of Europe, I also fell in love with Scandinavia and that love lasts ever since. There is no such place on earth to me, where I feel more comfortable and more connected to nature. On multiple trips up there, I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, wildlife and the rare occassion thats called "polar stratospheric clouds".
When I started taking pictures though, I was far from nature photography or photography in general. I started with a compact camera owned by my dad and documented my childish fascination for cars or took some snaps of our family travels. That documentation part continued when I bought my first compact camera, a Canon Powershot SX620HS. During a three months trip to Southeast Asia, I documented that incredible journey and realized that I really enjoyed taking pictures. As time passed, I bought my first DSLM camera, a Sony alpha 6000 with it´s 16-55mm Kit lens. With this camera I made my first steps into photography and it more and more became a hobby. It was in 2019 when I rented a lens to shoot the Northern Lights in Sweden and I would say thats been the point when I fell in love with nature photography and really got into that.
Since this time I am constantly working on my own progress, seeking for inspiration in nature and other photographers work and just enjoying the photography journey.
I guess thats what it´s all about and what keeps me motivated. The joy of creating and the fact, that you never stop exploring.
I hope you enjoyed that introduction and follow me along my way.
